Who on your ballot is not taking corporate PAC money?
The US Congress has become an open market for corporations to buy legislative influence by funneling large sums of money to campaigns via Political Action Committees. Until enough of the incumbents anointed by this corrupt system are replaced by candidates who finance grassroots campaigns through small-dollar donations, it is unlikely that any substantive campaign finance reform will be legislated. The first step toward a functioning democracy is supporting the campaigns of congressional candidates outside of the corrupt big money system.
Where are you registered to vote?
How are the right candidates determined?
Candidates are selected using an automated algorithm that searches all of the content across campaign website domains (excluding pages devoted to press coverage) and checks whether certain keyword phrases are used. It is not perfect, and it's likely that there are a few candidates included in the database who should not be, and vice versa. You can help improve this resource by reporting such errors as they are noticed and they will be manually corrected.
Are the results an endorsement on your part?
No. PAC Free Congress lacks the time and funding that would be required to manually vet each and every candidate, and since the algorithm that selects candidates is imperfect, further detective work is left to the concerned voter. The goal of this resource is to highlight grassroots campaigns that voters might otherwise overlook. You should use the provided links to a candidate's campaign website and social media pages to learn more about their policies before casting your ballot.
